A Laundry Room in Sight

28 11 2012

Though I have been sparse on updates, we have been really making great progress around the house lately.

The plumbing, wiring, and general prep work needed to move on to more tangible, visible results is done. The laundry room is insulated, drywalled, mudded, taped, and even primed, and has tile backer board on the floor, just ready for tiling. I will be painting the actual wall color this week, and we plan to start tiling the kitchen and laundry room this weekend. Because of the way they are connected, we have to tile both rooms at once.

This looks so boring because I can’t fit it well into one picture due to the height of the room, which used to be a hallway. It has a vaulted ceiling and transom window, so, it feels much bigger than it is (and I think it is the biggest/best laundry room we’ve ever had). I had to take a few pictures and stitch them together here, which is why there are some weird shadows in this photo:

Keep in mind we are covering the ceiling with bamboo flooring, which should be awesome! The plastic is just keeping the sanding dust isolated – that will be a glass window eventually.

The back wall will have a sink, which means our temp kitchen is only a couple weeks away! I got lazy and didn’t finish the drywall that will be covered by the sink cabinet…

If all goes well, we’ll have most of the tile down this weekend, and 2Chili will start building cabinets. We cannot figure out what the doors will be – we have ideas all over the map – but will figure it out soon and get to cranking.

Thanks for stopping by!

Thanks Lisa – when it’s done you’ll have to swing by and take a peek. I thought of you today when I pulled on a size “Small” sweater. I actually went out and bought a few new things per my fashion consultant. ;)
